More Tanks!

A couple of days ago I mentioned that I was making some tanks and various other bits and pieces for 'Monster Island'. I promised some pictures. Here they are:

Tanks. As you can see they are pretty crude - layers of card with a piece of wire for the gun. Each of the tanks in the foreground is about 6mm by 12mm and they are mounted on pennies. The larger tanks in the mid-ground are 7.5mm by 15mm. In the background can be seen an artillery pieces - the pink bits behind it are a small section of plastic hair-roller and represent the crew.

The pennies with a square of card on them are bases for the helicopters and planes; the card will have a small hole drilled into it to take a pieces of wire as a flying stand.

They are all sat on newspaper because I have just painted them with very watered down PVA glue (from the Early Learning Centre). This helps seal the card and provides a better surface for painting on.

Two of the tanks face Godzilla. I know who my money's on. The Godzilla model is part of a batch of figures I got on E-Bay and stands about 2 1/2 inches tall.

A fighter plane shows off its majestic 2cm wingspan. The cockpit is that well-known modelling material - a lentil. Lentils have also been used for the turrets on some of the armoured personnel carriers.

More pictures as I start to paint them.
